The Microbiology laboratory is intensively working in various microbiological systems like identification and characterization of bacteria, fungi and actinomycetes from clinical samples and environmental samples. The laboratory has both aerobic and anaerobic culture systems that are employed in the evaluation of anti-microbial efficacy of various synthetic compounds and herbal extracts against aerobic and anaerobic strains by standardized assays like Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC), Minimum Bacterial Concentration (MBC), time kill assay, antibiotic susceptibility tests, anti-biofilm assay and anti- adhesion assay. We have submitted four bacterial Isolates to NCBI; Geotrichum candidum isolate KLEBSRC, Galactomyces sp. isolate KLEBSRC, Cladosporium tenuissimum isolate, Sarocladium terricola isolate. We also successfully isolated endo phytic fungi Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, Colletotrichum fructicola from plant leaf [Pimenta dioica]. We also successfully isolated and deposited Aspergillusnidulans to NCBI.
The laboratory has provided technical support and guidance for post-graduate students and faculty from different KAHER Institutions and collaborators. The laboratory offers opportunities for training, internships, and collaborative projects.
We are willing to work in very competitive environments and ready to share, collaborate to work in the field of Microbiology.
